Rearing Technology and Innovation Laboratory is one of the most important laboratory of Central Sericultural Research and Training Institute, Mysore. Primarily involved in developing the silkworm rearing technologies suitable for different breeds/hybrids, regions and season to optimize productivity. In addition to this laboratory is also involved in designing and innovating various tools, equipments and rearing houses to reduce the cost of production and improve crop yield.

- To improve rearing practices for maximization of cocoon yield.
- To develop rearing package for improved silkworm hybrids.
- To develop suitable technologies for silkworm eggs incubation, egg transportation, black boxing, low cost chawki rearing practices for commercial viability of chawki rearing centers.
- To develop rearing packages for different silkworm breeds , season and region.
- To fabricate and evaluate the low cost silkworm rearing tools for chawki and late age rearing, mounting, harvesting and transportation of cocoons.
- In house testing of silkworm breeds and technologies.

- Young age silkworm rearing practices for commercial viability.
- Late age rearing -Development of cost effective technologies.
- Mounting , mountages and harvesting - Development of New card board mountages , cocoon harvesting and deflossing machines and Popularisation among Sericulturists.
- Imparting training to Sericulturists, Officers of various Departmental candidates, Non Governmental Organization Central Silk Board and students and teachers of Universities.

- Studies of test verification of different chawki practices.
- Studies on commercial viability of mulberry garden for chawki rearing.
- Maximization of cocoon yield in large scale rearing through ITP of mulberry cultivation and rearing technologies.
- Project for strengthening of extension system for bivoltine sericulture ( JICA ).
- Development and popularization women friendly technologies for avoiding drudgery in sericulture (Collaborative).
- Establishment of seri technology complex for women (Collaborative).

- Imparting training on various aspects of Silkworm rearing.
- Providing guidance connected with silkworm rearing technologies to all the sericulturists and private enterpreneurs.
- Development of low cost devices to cut the cost of production of cocoons.
- Testing of rearing tools, equipments and silkworm breeds.

- Laboratory has good facilities to take up all research work in the field of silkworm rearing.
- Facility for Conducting scientific and commercial Young age silk worm rearing.
- Facility for Conducting large scale late age silk worm rearing.
- Facility for Conducting mounting and harvesting of large scale rearing.
- Facility for conducting rearing in controlled conditions.
- Facility for testing of rearing tools.
