Reeling and Fibre Technology section of the Institute deals with post cocoon activities to provide cocoon testing results, commercial cocoon characteristics and raw silk test results of the experimental cocoons received from different sections of the Institute and nested units of the Institute for interpretation of pre cocoon and post cocoon parameters. Test reeling results establishes the quality of cocoons produced. Raw silk testing establishes the quality and make it possible to classify the silk against predetermined standards like BIS standards and ISA standards. CSR&TI is the oldest Institute in mulberry sericulture in India and since inception of the Institute, reeling section is providing technical assistance and is one of the forerunners in the field of reeling. The role of the reeling section in supporting the development of new races, technologies and human resource has been well recognized. The section has good infrastructure facilities like hot air drying, 3 pan cooking, test reeling, multiend reeling semi-automatic reeling and raw silk testing for higher learning and advanced training.
